God at Work Through the SU Internship Programme
One of the greatest privileges we have at Scripture Union Ireland is seeing young people grow in their faith and discover God's calling on their lives. This year, we have had the joy of watching that happen through our Internship Programme, and we would love to share our intern's story with you.
When Irah Toal joined the programme, he had only been involved with Scripture Union for a couple of years. He first came along to help lead worship at an Easter Kids Camp when he was 18 years old. Looking back on his internship year, Irah reflects on the profound impact it has had on his faith and ministry…
"Scripture Union gave me the opportunity to grow in my personal spiritual disciplines like prayer and devotion. Within the ministry, I was able to grow further in skills like camp coordination, public speaking and so much more."
For Irah, the internship provided a unique environment to learn, serve and develop, surrounded by people who were committed to encouraging and supporting him.
"My favourite part about being an intern this year was that it provided a time to learn and experience. It came without all of the worries that would usually come with these responsibilities. I had people on my side, helping and guiding me to where I am now."
As he stepped into new opportunities and challenges, Irah discovered more of God's faithfulness in everyday life.
"I learned God's presence and experienced it in everyday life. Finding out that God knows where you are. He knows what you need to do for his will. He will make a way where there is no way, or it may seem."
As Irah prepares to begin studying Graphic Design this September, he plans to continue serving in ministry and trusting God to guide his next steps.
Stories like Irah's remind us why investing in young leaders matters. The Internship Programme is not simply about developing ministry skills; it is about helping young people deepen their relationship with Christ, discern His calling, and grow in confidence as they serve Him.
We are currently recruiting interns for the 2026/27 Internship Programme. We would greatly value your prayers that God would call the right young people to apply and that He would continue to use this programme to raise up the next generation of Christian leaders.
Ovoca Manor Sports Hall
Thank you to all who have contributed towards the renovation of our sports hall. The transformation has already made a huge difference, and we are delighted that the project is now nearing completion. While most of the work has been finished, we still need additional funds to complete the final stages. If you are in a position to give financially to this work, please do so below.
Thank you for helping make stories like Irah's possible. This ministry is only possible because of the faithful prayers and financial support of people like you. Your partnership enables us to invest time, training, mentoring and opportunities into young people. The fruit of that investment is seen not only in their own lives, but also in the many children, young people and communities they serve.
Together, we are seeing lives transformed and God's kingdom advanced across Ireland.
With gratitude,
Suzie Evans
