December 2025
The Light has entered the darkness. What happens next is up to you and me.
As we approach Christmas, our homes and streets are filled with an array of colourful lights. They pierce the darkness and proclaim a truth older than the season itself: light has come, and darkness will not have the final word.
Lights are more than decoration. They are a declaration, announcing that God still breaks into the night.
Many young people across Ireland will walk into January carrying questions of identity, worth, and belonging. They search, often silently, for meaning, for hope, for something solid enough to stand on. Too many of them have never been shown that God is not distant, but near. He’s not silent, but speaking.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
God’s word is light. Scripture does not simply inform; it forms. It names what is true. It reveals grace. It guides, corrects, inspires, and reassures. When young people open the Bible and encounter Jesus for themselves, lives are changed. Forever!
This is why Scripture Union exists. This is our calling. We bring God’s story to young people so it can light their paths - in schools, at camps, in families, and in churches.
This work is urgent. A generation is being shaped every day. The question is not whether they will be formed. The question is by what…
At Christmas, we don’t just celebrate the Light. You and I decide whether we will carry that light.
€50 Helps develop and share resources that support young people in reading Scripture for themselves.
€100 Funds places on Scripture Union camps where children and teenagers can explore faith in a supportive community.
€150 Enables SU Ireland to run training sessions and produce tools that support those working with young people as they engage with Scripture.
This Christmas, I invite you to give a gift so that more young people across Ireland can walk out of the darkness to meet The Light of The World.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come.” Isaiah 60:1
Will you help us?
This generation will be shaped by something.
Your giving helps ensure it is shaped by what God reveals in Scripture.
Blessings,
