I’ve had a busy first few months at Ovoca Manor and it’s definitely kept me on my toes! The place is always busy and there is a buzz when a group are on site, but there is also a buzz about getting the place ready for a group and the mountain of jobs that need to get done. I’ve met so many groups and people in the short time I’ve been here. We have also had a lot of maintenance challenges to overcome in the last few months which we feel we’re are coming to the end! From a personal standpoint I look forward to the maintenance minimising as I’d love to step out into the community and offer the use of the hall to the local school (maybe after doing a tag rugby programme with them on their pitch first) and to host coffee mornings/ afternoons with age action groups/men’s shed and have locals up to the manor who might never have been here before. We are looking forward to what is in store for 2024.

Follow The Star

We were thrilled to be able to host in November 2023, Follow the Star. We welcomed 200 young primary students from local schools and their teachers through the doors of Ovoca Manor. In total we had four Junior Infant classes, four Senior Infant classes, one First class and one Second class groups attend over the 4 days.

The combination of arts and crafts, cookie decorating, and a unique telling of the Nativity story provided a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved. This joyous event provided great opportunities for the children to hear the story of Jesus birth, to express their creativity, learn new skills, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Our hope is that all who attended got to experience and share in the true meaning of Christmas. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the SU team and volunteers who helped make this special event run so smoothly.
