October SU Update
Moving into these autumn months, we hope that you’re finding moments to notice the beauty and goodness of God all around you. As the leaves begin to fall and cover the ground with colour, our prayer is that you would see signs of God’s movement and change in your own life.
Through all our activities, Scripture Union aims to help young people and families have a genuine experience of God’s presence and love in their lives. As they engage with Scripture and as they learn to pray, we trust that they will discover that God is not distant but deeply involved in the ordinary moments of their lives.
When someone experiences God’s love, it doesn’t just change their personal life; it transforms the spaces they step back into - their schools, their classrooms, their friendships, their homes. God’s transforming presence always ripples outward.
Creating those kinds of experiences takes a community. It cannot be done by one person, or even a few! It happens through the consistent faithfulness of many people over time - whether it’s through leading a small group with teens, a prayer reminder on a fridge or a donation that helps send a child to camp.
As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians,
12 The body is made up of many parts, and each of them has its own use.
But all the parts make up one body, which is how it is with Christ.
The work of Scripture Union only happens through people like you! People who commit to praying, to giving and to showing up - for the sake of young people and families. Over the coming months, we simply want to say thank you - to all who have served faithfully, prayed consistently, and supported generously.
Volunteer Celebration
Tuesday 4th November 2025 at Grosvenor Road Baptist Church, Dublin
This evening is open to everyone who has been part of the work of Scripture Union in any way — past or present. We want to gather to give thanks, share stories, and to celebrate what God has been doing among us and through us across Ireland.
Volunteer Retreat
3rd–5th January 2026 at Ovoca Manor
This weekend is something we are really looking forward to — a chance to pause and simply be together. Not to serve, but to be served. It’s our way of saying thank you, and of creating space for rest, renewal, and connection with one another and with God. This retreat is free because we want everyone who gives so much to have the chance to come. We would love to see as many of you there as possible! Registrations open Oct 24th.
Blessings,
Mark Murray
National Director
Prayer points:
NUA Presentations - that NUA would enable teachers to help young people explore and invest in their faith.
Bible Engagement - that our workshops with the Elphin Diocese and Church of Ireland Youth Diocese would be impactful.
New Youth Development Worker - that we’d find the right person to assist with our camps and schools work.
Christmas Fair at Ovoca Manor - that the event would be a strong witness and welcome to the community of Avoca.
