Chairperson of SU Council
If you have ever been to the beach at Greystones during the two weeks of our CSSM, you may have sung the song that goes like this “Jesus will never ever, no not ever, never ever change, He will always, always that’s for all days, always be the same. So as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He will forever reign. Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same”
When thinking about the work of SU over the past year and about what lies ahead, it can sometimes feel that things are ever changing. There are more and more languages that NUA is being translated into, the ways to engage children with reading their bibles are ever evolving as they change with the world around them, schools requirements differ all the time, valued SU workers move on, new volunteers get involved and then there are the changes to policies and regulations, changes to the colour of walls and the leaking roof! Change is good, it is often necessary to help us improve and to think anew about our ministry priorities but while all that goes on around us, it is such an assurance that the great God that we serve through the work of Scripture Union never changes.
That His love and care for us is steadfast, that His rescue and forgiveness of us through Jesus remains constant, that the Spirit’s presence with us day by day never waivers, that His words that we read in the bible are ever true. Change can be challenging for a ministry like ours but knowing that the God in whose name we do this work never changes means that whatever lies ahead we can face it with God’s enabling. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
Thank you for your continued prayer for and support of our ministry.
