September 2026

Hello Scripture Union family and friends!

September always feels like a fresh start - the start of a new school year, the return to routine after the summer months and the feeling of fresh, crisp autumn air. The great reset as the summer fades and we embrace jeans and jumpers again.

September at Scripture Union has brought us two new, fresh starts in the form of wonderful interns!

The internship programme is a brilliant opportunity for young adults to develop ministry skills, go deeper in their relationship with God, discern His calling, and grow in confidence serving Him. We are passionate about seeing faith passed from one generation to the next and investing in the next generation of young leaders. For this reason, we are delighted to introduce Jack and Joy!

You’ll be seeing lots more of our new interns at camps, retreats and on social media - send a message, say hello at camp and get to know them more. Our team is so excited to see all that God will do in and through them this year!

This September, Ovoca Manor has also been busy and full of life with many new Ember students coming through its doors each week. Designed for senior secondary school students, the Ember Leadership Programme offers faith leadership training. Where students are equipped to step up as faith leaders within their school communities, often serving as trusted mentors to guide incoming junior students on their journey. We have enjoyed getting to know the staff and students from many different schools and supporting these events!

Each group of Ember students think about what it means to “Fan into flame the gift of God that is within you” and I myself have been reflecting on these verses from 2 Timothy 1:5-7.

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

In the newness of September, I am praying that God would stir in our hearts a renewed passion for His name and that the gifts He has given to each of us would fan into flame and overflow for His glory through the power of His spirit at work in us.

Thank you for your continued support as you pray for the work of SUI, volunteer and lead camps, give financially and do so much more. We are very grateful and we couldn’t do this work without YOU.

Here are some ways you can be involved in supporting our work this month:

  • Pray for our interns Jack and Joy as they settle into their internships

  • We have launched a brand new camp for 4th-6th years - Autumn Anchor! This will be running from 26th - 29th October in Ovoca Manor. Please pray for the teens who have registered, that they would be able to have fun, build new friendships and go deeper in faith.

  • We are still recruiting volunteers for Autumn Anchor! Please pray that God will provide the volunteers needed for this camp. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact amy.mullen@scripturenunion.ie

  • Finally, please pray for our finances and that God will continue to provide for the work we do through people like you.

Blessings,

Amy Mullen
